Prayer List: Mexican Mayor Murdered

On New Year’s Day Gisela Mota became the new mayor of Temixco, Mexico. The next day she was murdered.

The Associated Press reports, “Temixco is a city of about 100,000 people neighboring Cuernavaca, a resort and industrial city which has been suffering kidnappings and extortion linked to organized crime groups.”

Prayer List

* Pray for the Holy Spirit to comfort the family and friends of Gisela Mota.
* Pray for Mexico’s politicians to have discernment in how to respond to  violence.
* Pray for the Holy Spirit to convict cartel members of their sin and need for salvation.
* Pray for an end to the drug cartel violence in Mexico.
* Pray for cartel members to find honest employment.
* Pray for drug addicts to overcome their addictions.
* Pray for the Gospel to spread throughout Mexico as church planters work on starting new congregations.

God has given each of us the opportunity to serve Him. We should prayerfully work towards completing the ministry that He has given us.

Prayer List

* Thank God for providing for our needs and being with us during 2015.
* Confess any sins.
* Pray for the Holy Spirit to prepare our steps and to give us discernment so that we will not stray from God’s will.
* Pray for opportunities to share the love and Gospel of Jesus Christ with family members, friends, and neighbors.
* Pray for the Holy Spirit to build a sense of urgency in the body of Christ, the Church, to complete the ministry Jesus has given us.

Associated Press is reporting that 26 people were killed in a suicide bombing in northern Pakistan. Another 45 people were wounded in the attack.

Prayer List

* Pray for the Holy Spirit to comfort the families and friends of the victims.
* Pray for healing for the injured.
* Pray for the Holy Spirit to convict the Jamaat-ul-Ahrar (who claimed responsibility for the attack) terrorists of their sin/hate and to draw them to repentence.
* Pray for Christians to share the love of Christ with Muslims worldwide.

Prayer List: Winter Storms Kill 43 And Three Churches Destroyed

According to Reuters, winter storms in the United States “killed at least 43 people, flattened buildings and snarled transportation for millions during a busy travel time.”

Numerous people are homeless in Garland, Texas following a devastating tornado. The city website reports, “Approximately 600 structures have been damaged in the storm. They include single-family, multi-family and commercial property. Single family homes account for the largest percentage of damage.”

Tornadoes destroyed at least three churches: two in Red Oak, Texas and one in Birmingham, Alabama.

Texas Baptist Men have already set up disaster relief operations in Garland and Rowlett.

Prayer List

* Pray for the Holy Spirit to comfort families and friends of the deceased.
* Pray for healing for the injured.
* Pray for housing for the homeless.
* Pray for financial needs to be met for employees and business owners that are now out of work.
* Pray for Christian disaster relief personnel to meet human needs and to share the Gospel with people that need hope.
* Pray for the church congregations that lost their buildings to find a new place to worship and that their members would grow closer to Christ.

Prayer Focus: Halloween, the Day of the Dead and Reformation Day

Over the next 48 hours millions of professing Christians will celebrate Halloween and the Day of the Dead. Pagan customs and superstitions abound as people pray for their deceased relatives and friends.

In the midst of spiritual darkness, some Christians will honor Reformation Day – the anniversary of Martin Luther protesting indulgences and church sins by posting a letter to a church door.

The Huffington Post, no friend of conservative Christianity, reports, “Studies have shown that Halloween actually makes kids act more evil.”

Prayer List

* Pray for children not to be harmed while trick-or-treating.

* Pray for the Holy Spirit to bring conviction to “Christians” that participate in pagan customs.

* Pray for the Gospel to reach the hearts of people attending church harvest festivals, hell houses, and various evangelical outreaches.

* Pray for a reformation in Christianity so that church attendees will rediscover sound doctrine, and become disciple makers.
