Prayer Focus: Elderly Population to Double

AFP reports, “The number of people globally aged 65 and over is expected to more than double by 2050 as the world’s senior population continues to rocket, a US study said Monday. ”

This aging population represents both a challenge and an opportunity for the body of Christ. Christians are leading Bible studies and worship in retirement communities and nursing homes. Retired Christians have more available time to spend in prayer and ministry.

Prayer List

* Pray for retired Christians to invest their time into the kingdom of God through prayer, service, and sharing the Gospel.
* Pray for the spiritual and emotional health of Christians ministering in hospitals, nursing homes and hospices so that they will not become discouraged.
* Pray for Christians to effectively share the burdens of people that are dying and to also comfort their families and friends.
* Pray for the elderly to be converted upon hearing the Gospel message that Jesus saves.

Prayer Focus: Terrorists Crucify Priest, Bomb Park to Kill Christians

As Christians celebrated Easter, terrorists crucified a Catholic priest in Yemen and bombed a park in Pakistan where Muslims and Christians were gathered.

The Associated Press reports, “The death toll from a massive suicide bombing targeting Christians gathered on Easter in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore rose to 70 on Monday, underscoring the ability of militants to stage large-scale attacks despite a months-long military offensive targeting their hideouts.”

Near the beginning of March, ISIS kidnapped Rev. Thomas Uzhunnalil during an attack in which they also killed 16 nurses and nuns. According to the Washington Times, Uzhunnalil was crucified on Good Friday.

Prayer Focus: ISIS Terrorists Kill 29 in Soccer Bombing

Fox News reports, “In the latest terror attack linked to the Islamic State, at least 29 people were killed when a suicide bomber attacked a football stadium south of Baghdad Friday, Iraqi security officials told The Associated Press.”

Earlier this week ISIS terrorists struck at the Brussels, Belgium, airport and metro.

According to ABC News, “Seven people have been arrested in Brussels since late Thursday in connection with the ongoing investigation into the attacks that killed at least 31 people and injured at least 300, the Belgian federal prosecutor said.”

Prayer Focus: Four Missionaries Killed in Middle East


Wycliffe Associates reports, “Militants killed four national translators and injured several others in a raid on a translation office in the Middle East.” One translator’s life was spared when two workers covered him with their own bodies. There is also good news. Computer hard drives that stored the new Bible translation work were also saved.

* Pray for the Holy Spirit to comfort the families and friends of the missionaries that died.
* Pray for the Holy Spirit to convict the militants of their sin and need for a savior.
* Pray for the new Bible translations to be completed.
* Pray for God to send workers to the unreached people groups around the world.
* Pray for the Gospel to bear much fruit as people hear and read about Jesus for the first time.

Prayer Focus: 53 Killed in Tunisia Conflict

The Associated Press reports, “Exceptionally deadly clashes between Tunisian forces and extremist attackers left at least 53 people dead Monday near Tunisia’s border with Libya, the government said, amid growing fears that violence from Libya could destabilize the whole region.”

During the conflict 11 soldiers and 7 civilians died along with 35 attackers affiliated with ISIS.

* Pray for the Holy Spirit to convict ISIS terrorists of their hate and their need for a Savior.
* Pray for terrorists to leave behind their violent past and live in peace.

According to the Associated Press, “Iraqi officials said on Monday that the death toll from Sunday’s suicide truck bombing south of Baghdad climbed to 61.” The AP also reported, “Sunday’s bombing was the third massive bombing in a little over a week against security forces and the country’s Shiite majority.”

Prayer Focus: Bread Shortage in Venezuela

Venezuela’s crumbling economy and foot shortages are attracting international press attention. AFP reports, “Cardboard signs on the door warning of ‘No bread’ have become increasingly common at Venezuelan bakeries.”

The food shortage is occurring because lower oil prices have reduced the nation’s ability to import wheat.

* Pray for Venezuela’s economy to improve and for struggling businesses to survive the economic downturn.
* Pray for Venezuela’s politicians and bureaucrats to have discernment in the decisions they make regarding the economy.
* Pray for food to reach the poor throughout Venezuela.

Prayer Focus: Super Tuesday Voters Picking a President

The Miami Herald reports, “Today, Super Tuesday, is the fork in the road day; the most important day of the presidential primaries.”

Voters in twelve states will vote for their preferred presidential candidate. While this presidential season has been very divisive, Christians should remember what the Bible says: “It is God who alters the times and seasons, and he removes kings and promotes kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to the discerning.” – Daniel 2:21 ISV

God still intervenes for His purposes.
